Steps to install and use the Fyle Gmail extension on Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge or Brave Browser.

Installation

The Fyle Gmail Extension is available for several browsers:

Chrome, Edge, and Brave:

  1. Open the Chrome Web Store/Edge Extensions: Even if you're using Brave, you'll need to open the Chrome Web Store to install the extension. Click this link for Chrome Web Store or click this link for Microsoft Edge Extension.

  2. Add to Browser: Click Add to Chrome (or Add to Edge or Add to Brave). A confirmation pop-up will appear.

  3. Confirm Installation: Click Add extension to complete the installation.


Using the Extension

  1. Open the Email: Open the email containing the receipt you want to expense.

  2. Click the Fyle Button: Locate and click the Fyle button in the email. If you don't see the button immediately, it might be hidden in the extension menu (puzzle piece icon) in your browser's toolbar.

  3. Review and Edit: Fyle automatically extracts expense information from the receipt and populates the expense form in a sidebar. Review the extracted data and make any necessary corrections. Fill in any mandatory fields (marked with a red asterisk).

  4. Save the Expense: Click Add Expense to save the expense to your Fyle account. The receipt is automatically attached.


Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with the extension:

  • Check Browser Compatibility: Ensure you're using a compatible browser (Chrome, Edge, or Brave).

  • Reload Gmail: Try reloading your Gmail page.

  • Reinstall the Extension: Remove and reinstall the extension from the Chrome Web Store.

  • Check for Conflicting Extensions: Disable other extensions to see if they're conflicting with the Fyle extension.

  • Corporate Firewall: If you're on a corporate network, firewall restrictions might be blocking the extension. Try connecting to a different network.

  • Clear Browser Cache and Hard Reload: Clear your browser's cache and perform a hard reload (Ctrl+Shift+R or Cmd+Shift+R).

  • Contact Support: If the issue persists, contact Fyle support for assistance.
