To enable Sage Expense Management to auto-fill the Tax group and Tax amount from receipts, an admin must configure one default tax group for each supported UK tax rate:
0%
5%
20%
Until these defaults are configured, tax information from receipts will not be auto-filled for the corresponding tax rates.
Configure default tax groups
Go to Admin settings > Expenses.
Open Taxes.
Find a tax group with a 0%, 5%, or 20% tax rate.
Select Set as default.
Repeat this for all three supported tax rates.
Only one tax group can be set as the default for each tax rates.
Change a default tax group
To use a different Tax group for a tax rate:
Find another tax group with the same tax rate.
Select Set as default.
Confirm the change.
The newly selected tax group will replace the existing default for that tax rate.
Disable a default tax group
You can disable a tax group that is currently set as a default.
If you disable it, tax information for that rate will no longer be auto-filled from receipts until another active tax group is set as the default.
What happens after defaults are configured?
When a receipt contains a supported tax rate and tax amount, Sage Expense Management will:
identify the VAT rate from the receipt
select the default tax group configured for that rate
auto-fill the VAT amount in the expense
What happens if a default is missing?
If no default tax group is configured for a tax rate, tax information for that rate will not be auto-filled from receipts.
For example, if defaults are configured for 5% and 20%, but not 0%, receipt data extraction will work only for the configured rates.
