If your organization operates in services or construction and uses Items in NetSuite to track business costs and generate Job Costing Reports, you can import these items into Fyle for accurate expense categorization. Since Items are linked to Expense and Income Accounts, tracking expenses in Fyle by Item helps ensure precise job cost reporting and simplifies rebilling customers by tying expenses to invoices.

Importing Items from NetSuite to Fyle

You can import Items from NetSuite into Fyle as Categories, allowing employees to categorize expenses accurately.

How to Import Items from NetSuite

  1. Log in to Fyle-NetSuite Integration.

  2. Navigate to Configuration > Import Settings.

  3. Enable Import Items from NetSuite.
Note: Items can only be imported from NetSuite to Fyle if you are exporting expenses as Bills.

  4. Click Save.

Once enabled, all active Items from NetSuite will be imported into Fyle under the Category dimension, allowing employees to tag expenses to Items.

Exporting Expenses to Item Details in NetSuite

Since both Chart of Accounts and Items can be imported as Categories in Fyle, the integration ensures expenses are exported to the correct section in NetSuite:

  • If an employee categorizes an expense as an Item from NetSuite (e.g., Installation Service), it will be exported to the Item details section in Bills in NetSuite.

  • If an employee selects an expense account from the Chart of Accounts (e.g., Food expense), it will be posted to the Expense details section in the Bill instead.

This ensures that all expenses are categorized correctly in NetSuite.
