Delete an expense

Don't worry! mistakes happen when creating expenses! learn how to delete an expense permanently.

Once created, some expenses can be deleted from your account. For the expenses that can be deleted, the process is fairly straightforward. However, not all expenses can be deleted. For the expense to be deleted, please make sure that:

  • The expense is in the Incomplete, Complete, or the Sent Back state.

  • The expense is not linked to a corporate card transaction.

If the conditions mentioned above are met, you can delete the expense from your Fyle account permanently.

Deleting an expense

  1. Navigate to expenses: In the Fyle web app, click Expenses in the left sidebar.

  2. Select the expense: Choose the expense you want to delete. You can select multiple expenses to delete them in bulk. Note: Expenses displayed in the Blocked tab cannot be deleted directly. You must first resolve the policy violations and move them to the Unreported tab.

  3. Delete: Click the More button (three dots) above the expense list and select Delete.

  4. Confirm deletion: A confirmation message appears. Click Yes, Delete Expenses to permanently delete the selected expense(s).

Note:

  • Permanence: Deleting an expense is a permanent action and cannot be undone. Ensure you have selected the correct expense(s) before confirming the deletion.

  • Expense state: You can only delete expenses in certain states (typically Incomplete, Complete, or Sent Back). You cannot delete expenses that are part of a submitted report or have already been approved.

  • Corporate card expenses: Expenses linked to corporate card transactions cannot be deleted directly. You must delete the corresponding transaction from the Corporate Cards section (if you have the necessary permissions).

  • Mobile app: You cannot delete expenses through the Fyle mobile app. Use the web app to delete expenses.

The expense will successfully be deleted from your Fyle account.
