Dependent fields can be set up in Fyle when you typically want to control the values displayed for a second field based on the values selected in the first field while creating an expense. For example, if you show Cost Code field values based on the chosen project, you can configure Cost code as a field dependent on the Project field.
This article will help if you have already set up the dependent fields in Fyle, as shared here, but would like to update/delete the field values/mappings.
1. Adding a new dependent field value
Let's take an example where you have set cost code as a field dependent on Project in Fyle. Now, say you want to add a new cost code value, viz., Cost Code 7, which is dependent on Project 2. To achieve this,
Head to Admin Settings > Expenses > Expense fields > Custom fields and click on the dependent field you want to modify.
2. Now, click on Upload file > Export data. This would generate a template with project and cost code mapping available in your Fyle account.
In the above screenshot, you can see three cost code values mapped to projects in Fyle today.
To add a new cost code 7, we can edit the template that was shared, as shown below :
โ
I have added another row with project 2 and cost code 7 as a mapping value and now upload this file again to your Fyle account; the result will be as shown below :
Currently, Project 2 has two cost codes mapped to it.
2. Deleting a cost code value
Now, say you want to remove the Cost code 3 value, which is mapped to Project 2 in the above example; then, you can download the template again.
Edit the details such that the cost code 3 is removed and the column value is left blank.
Now, upload this file again to your Fyle account, and the result will be as shown below :
This way, you can add, edit, or delete the dependent field values in your Fyle account.
